Protected
areas make up 18% of land in Estonia .
Besides
national parks, nature reserves and landscape protection areas are considered
protected areas as well. They protect and provide information about the
habitats and biotic communities of endangered species and natural or cultural
heritage landscapes.
When hiking in protected areas, make sure to observe the
restrictions and instructions there. Protected areas are
managed by the Environmental Board; RMK controls the organisation for visits
there.
