Alam-Pedja
Nature Reserve area includes unique old rivers, forest and bog communities,
semi-natural communities, including flooded areas. The area is characterised
by the habitats of protected species, abundance of old rivers and the
structure of the forest communities defined by species and age. Alam-Pedja
Nature Reserve was created in 1994. The protected area is unique due to the
rivers on the area along with natural bogs, flooded areas and wet forests in
between them. The diversity of ecosystems is of major relevance to the area.
The reserve was created in 1985 and since 1997 it is one of the wetlands of
international importance (Ramisar wetlands) and since 2004 one of the Natura
2000 bird and nature areas. |
