30.10.2007 - The Chairman of the Management Board of RMK is Aigar Kallas 29.09

On 26 October, the Supervisory Board of the State Forest Management Centre (RMK) approved Aigar Kallas as the new Chairman of the Management Board of the organisation.

Members of the Board are Head Forester of RMK South-East region, Tiit Timberg and Head Forester of RMK North-East region, Tavo Uuetalu. The new Management Board will start work as of 1 November 2007.

Previous Members of the Board Raivo Võlli and Olav Etverk will continue working for RMK.

RMK is a profit-making state agency established under the Forest Act and its main task is the sustainable and effective management of the state forest. RMK grows forest regeneration material, organises work in the woods and the sale of timber, and takes care of game. In addition, RMK creates possibilities for recreation in rest areas in the forest and shapes nature awareness. RMK manages 38% of the forests in Estonia.

Since 2002 RMK has held the ISO 14001 certificate and sustainable forest management certificate (FSC). For the first time in Estonia, RMK received an extension of the FSC certificate until 2012. There are over 1100 people employed by RMK.
