21.12.2007 - The Union of Estonian Forest Industry Workers and RMK concluded a salary agreement for 2008 29.09


On 20 December, the Chairman of the Union of Estonian Forest Industry Workers, Konstantin Prozes, and the Chairman of the Management Board of State Forest Management Centre (RMK), Aigar Kallas, signed an agreement on the salary conditions of the employees of RMK for 2008, according to which the salaries of the employees of RMK will increase by 15% next year.

Compared to the agreement for 2007, other clauses of the agreement of salary conditions remained the same.

The Management Board that took office on 1 November met with the representatives of the Union of Estonian Forest Industry Workers in the second half of November. One of the most important topics for both parties was the employees’ salary increase. The main agreement, which was approved by the Board of RMK, was already reached in the first meeting.

Agreement of salary conditions of RMK employees, which is established as an annex to the collective agreement of RMK, is reviewed and updated as appropriate in co-operation with the representatives of the Union of Estonian Forest Industry Workers every year. The collective agreement is concluded for two years and the current agreement is valid until the end of 2008.

RMK is a profit-making state institution established under the Forest Act and its main task is the sustainable and effective management of the state forest. RMK grows forest regeneration material, organises work in the woods and sale of timber, and takes care of game. In addition, RMK creates possibilities for recreation in the rest areas in the forest and shapes nature awareness. RMK manages 38% of the forests in Estonia.
